Responsibility
Recommended for all grades
Have students work as a class or in small groups to brainstorm responses to the question, “What does responsibility mean to me?” Students can work individually or in small groups to create/design a poster depicting the text, “Responsibility feels like….” / “Responsibility sounds like…” / “Responsibility looks like…” Have students play word association games, either as a class or in groups on chart paper, finding synonyms for ‘Responsibility’; finding antonyms for ‘Responsibility’.
The next time your class goes to the library, ask them to find a book in which Responsibility is the main theme. Students can write a short summary as to why the books theme is of Responsibility. Students can have a ‘Gallery Walk’ so each student can see the theme of Responsibility represented in different ways. |
Collage
Recommended for grades 4-8
Have students look through magazines for pictures that show people respecting others' differences or pictures of different kinds of people working or playing together. Create a class "We Are Responsibility" collage. Classes can use magazine, newspaper clippings, drawings, etc.
